From Kenya – Overflowing thanksgiving to God for your prayers and support

Speaking of the liberality of their contributions, Paul said, “For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.” (2 Corinthians 9:12) There are many pastors, wives, and teachers in Kenya who are offering many thanksgivings to God because of your contributions to CRM and support of Pastors and Teachers.

God worked through you to provide the funds for CRM to conduct a 3-day conference at Brackenhurst Kenya for 14 Pastors and their wives from Kenya and Tanzania. The leadership for the conference included Mark McKeehan, Pastor of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN, Dan Riley, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Knoxville, Carl Smith, Executive Director, Families on Missions, Knoxville, Charles Ambaka, Grace Fellowship International, Peggy McAlister and myself.

We spent three days with leaders from two areas in Kenya and one in Northern Tanzania, seeking to encourage them to work together in reaching people with the Gospel. The couples met for 5 sessions with training from Ephesians 5:15-6:18 which included the Lord’s priorities for “Making the Most of Your Time”, Being led by the Spirit, God’s Plan for Marriage and the Home, and for Ministry in the Community. The sessions ended with Preparing for Problems through Prayer. Rotating breakout sessions were offered where the wives met with Peggy, and the pastors with Dan Riley and Charles Ambaka on “The Exchanged Life”, Mark McKeehan on “Defending the Faith” with a concentration on Islam, and Carl Smith on application of God’s Word to the Family. It was literally a mountain top experience for all. Our special thanks to those who gave for this conference.

The following week, Peggy and I had the joy of training two groups of teachers in Kajiado County how to use the Story Cloth to teach the “Christian Religious Education” component of the curriculum for Religious Education required of all schools by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development. They were also taught how the stories could be used effectively in accomplishing the standards for Math, Science, Vocabulary, and Environment, teaching required by their curriculum. Each teacher was given “homework” to prepare to present a story and lesson plans using their story. The results were amazing. The teachers were given Certificates, Story Cloths and materials for themselves and to teach another teacher in their school. They were also shown how to use our website to download the materials needed for teaching. Only heaven knows the impact these teachers will have in the lives of their students for generations to come.

All of this was made possible through your prayers and support. Thank you for partnering with CRM in the stewardship God has given us in using the Chronological Bible Stories to make disciples of the nations.
